Another advantage of Orca Base Camp is the use of unloaded sea kayaks (no camping gear). Unloaded kayaks are light and easier to paddle, which can be important during whale encounters, where a good photo depends on quick maneuvering.

From our kayaks and the beach we can watch Orcas feeding, playing and in social interaction with other pod members. This tour is a little more expensive due to the very limited amount of seats available. It is a more challenging nomadic sea kayak expedition for very small groups only. Because of the extreme remoteness of the area and very limited campsites we must cover larger distances daily to reach our camps, therefore a higher fitness level is required, but no kayak experience is necessary.
