Quadra Island isabsolutely beautiful and considered as one of the best sea kayak and whale watch destinations in British Columbia. Just 10 minutes east of Campbell River, visitors can save up to $200 in travelling cost compared to other destinations in B.C. A large portion of the island is protected as Provincial Park.

Quadra Island is one of the most diverse islands on the coast and a place of exceptional beauty. It offers miles of beaches, 20 lakes, a crystal clear ocean and old growth forest hiking trails.

The island is a prime destination for outdoor enthusiasts including kayakers, hikers, mountain bikers, divers, campers. Accommodation and campsites are limited, it is recommended to reserve a room early.

Just 10 minutes by ferry from Campbell River on the East Coast of Vancouver Island, Quadra Island and Campell River are the Eco- Tourism heart of Vancouver Island. Famous Strathcona Provincial Park Hiking- and Mount Washington Ski Areas are only 30 minutes away. Kayaking, Hiking and Fishing are world class.

Quadra is the largest of the Discovery Islands Group located in the northern Strait of Georgia, covered with lush rain forests and more than 20 beautiful lakes in the north. A large portion of the island is protected as Provincial Park.

There are 200 miles of well developed hiking and mountain bike trails and a shoreline with emerald bays and lagoons.

Quadra Island is rich in native history and has been the home of native peoples for thousands of years.
A visit to the famous Kwagiulth Museum and the new carving centre at Cape Mudge Village, where tourists


can watch great native artists carving totem poles, is the perfect balance to a day of paddling and hiking.

If you enjoy camping, the beautiful waterfront campground, $15-18 per night and tent, could be something for you. You'll also find numerous restaurants and shopping facilities.

This island offers pristine wilderness and the comfort of modern life, and a wonderful base for day excursions, family vacations and exciting tours for the adventure traveller.


How to get to us:

Please note: Getting to Campbell River and Quadra Island is faster and cheaper than to any other sea kayak and whale watch destination in British Columbia. Our guests are rewarded with some of the finest adventures in the world and can save up to $200 CAN in travelling costs per person (air).


Directions:


On your map look for:

- Canada, British Columbia

- Vancouver Island

- Campbell River on the Central East Coast of Vancouver Island, 200 km north of Nanaimo, 250 km south of Port Hardy.

- Quadra Island: Hard to find on your map, but quiet large 410 sqkm. 10 minutes by spectacular ferry ride east of Campbell River (you often see killer whales, sea lions and dolphins, Minke whales etc.)


Arrival by air:


Campbell River's airport is serviced several times a day by Pacific Coastal Airlines from Vancouver and Victoria. Telephone toll free North America 1-800 663 2872 Flight time 25 minutes.

From Campbell River airport to the Quadra Island ferry takes 10 minutes by taxi.

One way car rentals to Campbell River are available from Budget and National. Telephone # below.


Arrival by car:

1. Take B.C. Ferries, http://www.bcferries.com
from Vancouver (Tsawassen or Horseshoe Bay Ferry terminals) to Nanaimo, then drive north 1.2 hours to Campbell River on the Island Highway.

2. From Port Angeles (Washington State) on the Olympic Peninsula to Victoria (South Vancouver Island) by Ferry M.V. Coho, telephone 360 457 4491, then north on the Island Highway to Campbell River
(approx. 3.2 hours scenic driving)

3. You can also reach Vancouver Island (Campbell River) by B.C. Ferry from Powell River and Prince Rupert

From Campbell River, take the Quadra Island Ferry 10 minutes to Quadra Island.


By Bus and Train:

Bus service is available from Victoria and Nanaimo. Contact Laidlaw Coach Lines 250 334 2475 or Greyhound 250 334 2475

Train service is only available from South Vancouver Island to Courtenay. From Courtenay to Campbell River take the bus.
